The New Year

The first month of the New Year has proven to be quite interesting. One story I felt compelled to share with you. I got a call on Saturday. It was a new client inquiring about a haircut. She was new to the area and saw my site, charshairdesign.com through a google search. I started my salon business with Char's Hair Design and then decided to do another web site just for the trans gender, cross dresser, femm, trans community so that the people who need me could find me. She read my profile on the charshairdesign.com site and decided to come see me. While I was doing her hair, kinda trendy, professional, Pink, Haley Berry combo...we started talking and found we had a lot in common. After the cut I asked her if she got my card and she said yes. Both of my cards, Char's Hair Design and A Place for Chainge were next to each other on my station so I asked her if she got the Char's Hair Design card or the Place for Chainge card. She said she got the Char's card but asked what A Place for Chainge was. I told her that it was the exact same salon services with some added things that catered to the trans gender community. My client immediately said, "Oh my god! Now I know that God sent me to you. My brother is going through his transition and is having her surgery Feb. 8th. I'm so glad I found you and I can't wait to tell my brother, well, sister about you. It's so nice to be able to talk about what I'm going through and what my sister is going through."

She had no confusion about the transition she was just concerned for her sisters health. Her sister is in her 60's and finally doing what she has struggled with all of her life. We sat and talked for another hour. I can't wait to see her again in 4 weeks.

Wow! This is wonderful

This kind of openness and support is what I'd like to see all over the world. Great article.

Cross Dressers, Transgender, Drag

I just wanted to let everyone know that I have some wonderful make up tips for everyone out there. I so enjoy helping my friends transition. It is quite an art to go from male to female or female to male. You have to have an eye to create the proper look.

Transgender, Crossdressers, GLBT, Femme, Vacation get aways

So here was my vision when I started A Place for Chainge. I have met a lot of men, not so many women, who are in the process of transition or just like to dress up sometimes. I found that many are in the closet and have no were that they feel safe to explore their needs. I am a lesbian woman of color. Three strikes. I found it difficult sometimes to find a place where I truly felt that I could be free to be me and not treated unkindly by others. I decided that I want to provide that place for people to be able to be who they are and feel safe, cared about and good about themselves.

Transgender, Transgendered, Transsexual, Transvestite, Cross Dresser, Cross Dressing, Cross Dress, T girl, Femme, Trans Woman, Trans Man, MTF, FTM, Dr

Lets try and bring some understanding to it all. Maybe some of my friends out there can share a personal story for me. I find that my trans friends are for the most part very lonely in life. They don't feel like they belong to any community kinda stuck in a place of non acceptance. Not gay, not straight, not bi, where do they belong. Well, I say that they belong just like all of us to the human race in all our diversity. A Place for Change was created for everyone. Please share your stories and find friendship and acceptance at A Place for Chainge.
